Contract Manager Human Resources at Defender Services Inc

Background

I have worked for the same company for 5 years and I just got laid off due to down sizing. I now am looking for a new hub. I was in Human Resources and Recruiting. My problem is when I got my old job I had nothing on my background but since then something is on there from a old conviction back in 2014, I owned a home and my son lived in it he was dealing drugs out of it, when police came I was the only one there and I consented to a search not knowing! Anyway they found drugs and arrested me as the owner. So I ended up with a drug possession charge and conviction and now it shows up on my background. I didn't even do the drugs. How do I go about getting that known to any future employers. The background stops me dead I. My tracks. What can I do?

Hi Stacey Bouska

I am so sorry to hear that things have been a struggle for you lately. I think it would be good to reach out to some of your old work connections to see if they can recommend you for any open HR positions they know about. Sometimes having someone to vouch for you personally may help you to secure a job that matches your skillset.

You're definitely not alone, as others here on Jobcase have faced this as well.

• For support join this [group] (https://www.jobcase.com/groups/EFDAAB25684C498FB2AFCC626B1E30C4)

• For resources and where to go from here check out [Ex-offenders] (https://exoffenders.net/). It was created to help folks in your position learn about their options and provide the tools you need to re-enter the workforce.

• For companies that hire ex-offenders check some out some [here] (https://exoffenders.net/employment-jobs-for-felons/) as well as info about the benefits an employer will gain from hiring you [here] (https://www.iseek.org/exoffenders/find-job/benefits-ex-offenders.html)

When you are ready to start your job search simply follow these steps:

1. Click on Jobs & Companies at the top of the page, or head over [here] (http://www.jobcase.com/jobs/search)

2. Enter a job into the search field where it says Job Title, Keywords, or Company.

3. Add in your location by filling in your City and State OR zip code. Then click the magnifying glass to search.

4. Once the list is up, click on “View Job" of any you are interested in and then apply.

We are thinking of you and wishing you the best!
