UndercoverBoss?

Hi, has anyone been contacted by the TV show Undercover Boss recently for a job you applied for? I applied for a job in marketing and the company was confidential. I got contacted yesterday by the show supposedly but I have my suspicions as I already was offered something similar before and turned out to be a con/scheme. They even sent me a check in the mail for expenses which turned out to be fake. I don't want to answer until I know for sure. But there is no contact information in the email which is making me even more suspicious. Has it happened to anyone else?

Dina,

Most legitimate businesses do not use any gmail.com or yahoo.com, basically they will always have a company name.com. Next thing, the check, shred it! If you were to cash this check you will be liable for the fraudulent amount. I have had someone send me a check and first thing I shred it. I let them go as far as they could without me being had. I gave them a line of bull, via email of course, just like they do to others. In the end, they probably realized the scam did not work. Another issue to be on the look out, if they want you to do the "hangouts". They will never do a face to face or even a telephone conversation. Most of the people, I have been told, are from the areas around Africa, Jamaica, or other countries, therefore, they surely do not want to speak with you. Oh the other thing, money is usually an outrageous amount for part time work out of your home and they also tell you they travel so much and that is why they cannot communicate easily. I have been contacted by six (6) different scammers. I have conducted a lot of research and found out also that contacting your U.S. Attorney or even Attorney General they will not even invest time in this because they are normally not even in this country and they will just tell you to not cash the check. I hope this helps and also, this is becoming a ver common event now and we all need to be careful to whom we give any information.

Good luck!

Dina, this sounds like another scam. Unfortunately, there are unscrupulous individuals in the world with nothing better to do than to to mess with people's minds. I would not chance getting involved with this company.

It seems to me that if it was legit there would be address, name, and location info even if there was a do not reply message and a contact name. Google the official website and get the contact info and ask what their employment contact procedures are because you are confirming that the email contact is legitimate. If it is, then you will want to schedule an interview won't you.

Hi Dina,

Got a hand it to the scammers they get better all the time..

I've got phony checks sent to me, phony emails, crazy offers etc.

If this were the real thing you'd have more crazy official looking documents and emails etc. and names and follow up phone numbers.

I'm a part-time antique dealer and I am going to be on two upcoming episodes of the " Flea Market Flip". That gets shown on Home and Garden TV.

These guys shoot episodes on the fly and the two segments I'm going to be on are probably less than five minutes long.... But believe me they cover themselves with all type of release forms and signatures etc.

For a well-known show like Undercover Boss it seems very unprofessional the way they approached you.

Besides think about it the stars of the show are usually a CEO or a high-ranking company executive and a handful of work place employees.

Why would the show like Undercover Boss reach out to a total stranger or somebody who has nothing to do with the company they're filming an episode about.

This one smells as bad as six week old fish.

Alan

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't true. Recommend you do your best to confirm validity of the offer, before you expend resources on it. Good luck!

The show works with the Boss, not with someone who applied for a job. Unless you are the boss of a big corporation, why the heck would you give it a second thought?
