Over Qualified???
I had a great interview, did a drug test(which was clean) for them to come back and tell me I was over qualified to do the job they were 'hiring for' yet my cousin and a few friends work for that company and they have(company) those that don't want to work hard(quit in a few days). Or a few that have to actually been given Narcan just to live. I don't get it. What is this over qualified? As this isn't the only company to tell me this.

I've been told that also, along with them not understanding that if I'm willing to take the job and cut in payit would benefit them, right?

We all need to remember, Just Be Yourself ! regardless if it's a interview, I don't mean go into interview gangster type, ( which I had one of those Characters come in like that Honestly I had no idea what the heck he was talking about ! ) IT HAPPENS BELIEVE ME.! So we all can give advice on how we would do it, but be yourself Because the real you is who the employer is going to hire!.

I seem to be getting some of that too seems a shame to for them to throw out experience and proven performance doesn't it

Or your too old is quite common.

When a company says that you are overqualified, what they are saying is that they do not want to pay you what you are worth. So, keep looking for a job and remember that God has a plan for your life. Pray to God, in Jesus' name, for a job and He will give you a great job. The Bible says that if you pray for a mountain to move, it will. In the book of Matthew, Jesus says pray to the Father, pray anything, and He will supply your needs.

Some employers are afraid that you are looking for work and we'll take anything to pay the bills until something opens up in the field that you are overqualified in. You can see their side of it there ought to be a place where you can explain why you were looking for a job from home and why you cannot return to the job that you are quote on quote I overqualified for. If you can find a place anywhere on the application where you can write in information that would be a good place to start to let them know that you will not be returning to the job that you previously held and why.

Over qualified ? That’s an insult to your and their intelligence . Don’t they screen resume and applications ? So they don’t know that you were over qualified ?

Woody, I’ve been told that too. It’s code for 1 of 2 things:
- They don’t want to pay you what you’re worth.
- It costs a lot of $ to recruit for a position. They think that you’ll get bored & move on quickly, especially if there’s no room for advancement.

I agree with all the other comments and offer the theory that no one really knows the answer. The best way to get a position is through networking...just my opinion after being laid off several times... best of luck to you
Yeah, I'm hitting that too and I'm still a spry young buck in his forties. I think they don't want to waste the time on older people cause we might just quit or whatever. It'd be nice if they mentioned in school that one should get their ass ready for retirement by 45.
