What's the maximum # of pages or file size you would submit for a sample writing portfolio?
Of course I realize this probably varies depending upon where and for what job you're applying. I do business writing and content marketing, so I like to show style and subject mastery. When I get beyond 12 pages the response numbers drop off. My collection reads like a "12 days of Xmas" verse: 4 PR Queries, 3 Online Features; 2 mid-size articles; and one Hashtag Thisdayinstress (which is my lead, with pics). Any other writers out there with similar or completely different strategies?

Hi Bob, I don't think there's a max per say of how many pages. As someone with content marketing experience, during my interviews I would bring pieces that I felt were relevant and push the ones to the back of my portfolio that might not be of interest. I kept the more relevant pieces towards the front of my portfolio, this way I didn't have to go thumbing through it looking for things. Also add some of those sticky color coded tabs to help you navigate. If you have too much it can be overwhelming! Best of luck and make sure to thoroughly research the company you are applying to so you can feel out exactly which of your samples to bring along. Most jobs tend to love images too so if you can work a few of those in there or graphs showcasing the impact of your work, awesome. I hope this helps, best of luck!
