Can I escape the minimum wage trap driving for Uber?

Flexibility in my workday sounds nice but I’m not sure if there’s any real money to be made as a driver.

No, you cannot escape it when averaged out, I have been a uber driver for more than 1 yr, if you did it every day, you would average between $7-$11 /hr BEFORE TAXES,GAS,AND MAINTENANCE!!.....they alway need driver because driver don't stay, you can get a 4 person fair and get as little as $4! It's ABSOLUTLY disgusting. Only way to make money with uber is on holidays or in big cities or university towns.........

Let's not forget the tax write off for driving your own vehicle... At .56 a mile is not bad especially when your driving quite a bit..

It all depends on the area you drive in and how many other drivers are in the area. FiND an airport near you that allows drop offs and pick ups using uber....you can make bank....the closest airport to me is about 2 1/2 hours from me. It can be very lucrative if you find a good area. Check out lyft, it's the same platform as uber. You can have both apps running simultaneously and make more $ Best of luck!

I was a driver till I moved to a place that doesn' t have Uber. Unless you're willing to work most late Fri. And Sat. Nights, it makes about $9.00 an hour. I lived in Greenville, Sc. Maybe if you're in a BIG city it might pay decent. late means 8:00 p.m. till 2:00 a.m. Honest answer. Gas is also an issue and wear and tear on your vehicle.

I am not even sure the jobs they say they have exists. Have you ever gone to their office and see the huge crowd of drivers trying to apply?

I was just laid off. I start to drive uber now. First week i made 700 dollars working 7 days and 8 or 9 hours. They dont take taxes so you got cash in your pocket. You have to commit. Few hours work doesnt help at all.
