Success!!!!
I'm so excited about my new gig! I was hired yesterday (Monday) to ghostwrite a biography! Between now and Friday, I have to get a fee schedule written, for the actual writing the book, what information the client will give me (events, and such), and any addendum's not pertaining to the actual manuscript. I have a question, though, and I'm hoping any of you intelligent Jobcasers can help me. When I talked to the client's rep, there was an indication that he expects me to publish the book. I've never done that, and don't know where to turn. The book is supposed to be about 300 pages, in paperback, and in limited edition. What constitutes a limited edition? How can I self-publish? How much will it cost? I don't know how many books they want, yet. My guess is that the client wants the books to be passed around within his company. I don't think he wants to sell them to the general public, from the indications. I could be wrong! This is my first gig, as a paid writer. Yay!

Congratulations! So happy for you.

Also, limited edition doesn't mean anything when self publishing. Self publishing is print on demand. Once you are done with the book, you can order as many copies as you need. If they don't want the book public, you simply don't make it public.

I use createspace.com
It is free to use, it has some cover editing tools, it automatically assigns an ISBN and you can purchase copies for super cheap through the createspace portal. You can also make it available for purchase through Amazon.
Additionally, createspace can convert the file to .epub and make it available on Kindle.
Createspace is owned and operated by Amazon.
I use it now and again. Oddly enough, I am ghostwriting someone's autobiography right now as well.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Wow--so exciting Pauline! Congratulations on your new gig and hope that you find an answer to all your questions. Sounds like a fun project for sure. Best wishes and let us know how it is going!

Congrats! U should google your question.

That's really awesome, Pauline!! Congratulations! I'm not much of a writer myself, but I did find some info about how to self publish if that helps you. Here's the link: https://janefriedman.com/self-publish-your-book/
