Iam called
It doesn,t matter to me what people think of my age.I,m 62,I have been married to my new love of my life, and she is 52 we were married 1 year nov.21st. I was my deceased wifes caregiver for thirteen of twenty years while operating my home maintenance business at the same time. Now I,m looking to work in Senior housing as a maintenance director, and i,ts been tough finding the open door that I know is going to open.I am called to do a particular job,and rest in that fact.I,m very healthy, and ready to get back in the work world.I know that we all have a calling. Being raised in an orphanage when My Mother was killed on Jully 3rd 1962 has not diminished my faith,or determination tofill my purpose,so hang in there boomers, your not done, your just in transition of the future you are here to experience,so cheer up you too are called, and don,t settle for anything less than your dream dictates.

If more had the same attitude, We as a society would abolish things like Age discrimination

Hello Terry, Keep your faith in The Lord and he will allow that door or something similar to open. I feel very honored reading your story, because you were married on my birthday.

Thank you for your positive mind. I really appreciate you.

You are a remarkable man Terry, keep on truckin bud !!

Some facilities may even offer on-site housing if that interests you.

Your search is easy. Just reach out to a Place for Mom and mention you are doing long-term care research could they provide you with a list of senior communities in your area. Then start calling them.

I too have found myself struggling to gain employment. During my search Lyft and Uber came up as a possible alternative. At first I completely rejected the idea but after filling out application after application without any success I thought why not give it a try. So I did and now I'm making good money while setting my own hours. I have to say I really prefer it as I am in control of my future and I find it to be fun and rewarding. Anyone out there should consider this as a possiblility. If you do decide to sign up with Lyft in Charlotte NC please use TERESA47390 as a reference and you and I both will receive a $75.00 bonus after you give 50 drives in your first 30 days which you will do. Much luck to you.

Terry - keep your positive visions. Those are what make you special. You will find something and it will be what you want. I am also an AARP card carrier (67.5), work full time, make a pretty good salary (some say more than pretty good) and have enjoyed my career choice most of the times. I also never gave up when someone tried to keep me down. I faced my values and made them better which gave me a leg-up (when I can lift it up) over the young smart-butt ninnies. Like you, I will take that extra step and face what is there and make it mine. Your years on earth are only a number that will continue to grow in wisdom and grace. The wisdom I have down to a science...the grace - not so much :). But I still have time to work on it. Be strong but be true and you will be successful.

IF you believe in love, then I know you believe in God. In my opinion, God brought a new love in your life because he loves you and respect the hardships that you overcame. Think about Job... He lost everything including his entire family, but God had favor in him to give him all things anew. Taking care of your previous wife was very honorable and I know she appreciates you and wants you to be happy. So, LIVE and let LIVE. AS far as your employment situation, God has a plan for that too ! I wish you and your wife all the happiness that the two of you deserve.
Do you think that any job becomes even more specific to with age? I m 54.
