I do not Work Saturdays!
I have worked Monday thru Friday and if need be on Sunday's for the past two years. It is clearly states in the contract I signed that I don't work on Saturdays, but now my new supervisor is giving me a hard time for not covering my coworkers on Saturday's. You see it's against my religious beliefs to work on Saturday. It is the day of rest! My supervisor now wants to have a meeting with me and HR over this, complaining I am not being a team player. When it clearing states in the contract I signed I do not work on Saturday's. Can they actually fire me for this?

Do not sign anything....

no..

No. If they do, they are not only in breach of contract, they are violating your religious rights. Hold firm!

A contract is a written agreement between employer and employee, so bring a copy of your contract with you to the meeting stand by your religious beliefs, if they try to fire you then you definitely have a lawsuit against them. But be careful because when HR sides with you which they should then your supervisor may try and sabotage your job in another way

Quite frankly, I'd lose the "It's against my religion" argument. The only things that matter are: 1) it is in your contract and 2) there is a past practice of allowing you to have Saturday off. In today's climate (depending on your state), the religion argument is a non-sequitur. Stick with the "contractual obligation" and "past practice" that way you don't muddy the water with what may or may not fly in HR. And, like others have said "Bring your contract!!!" (but don't ever turn over the original to them)

No you can't it's against work labor law and it's also discriminating and you let them know you have a right or you sue the company

Take care

If it's in your contract, I don't think they can MAKE you work saturdays. Best of luck! Hang in there. I know, bosses are assholes sometimes.

Be sure you got your copy of the contract.
Good evening Mr. Scott if you have in writing that you cannot work on Saturdays because of your religious beliefs and it was agreed between both parties you have no obligation to that shift only if you personally have this in writing go sit down with the H&R and your supervisor and see what they have to say I don't see any reason you should be worried either way again I stress only if you have this in writing and two signatures agreeing that this is the the written agreement upon hiring you good luck to you I'm interested in finding out how it turns out I hope pray that you will get the end result you're looking for Merry Christmas to you and your family and may the new year be the happiest one yet
