My dealings with so-called H.R. departments.

I keep reading many comments about how employees need to go to H.R. for resolutions to there issues at their job. I beg to differ with this advice. I know that all companies with H.R. departments can be helpful to some, but my experience with the H.R. staff I dealt with in my last job was bogus. I will not drag out this comment, but my H.R. people would lie to keep their jobs. Case in point=====I do think the last H.R. manager was hired for a 6th or so month contract to fire employees, as I was along with many others during his time there. I thought that the department was to mediate issues in the work place, and not be in cahoots with managers some uppers to push people around. This man said to me that I had worked there for twenty years so it was time for me to "MOVE ON!!!!!!!! And also stated to me that if I spoke of conversations we had, he would walk me out personally. Now, I ask you, what is up with being treated that way. He lied about other incidents with other employees and there are many more issues that came up. He was arrogant, controlling, unprofessional and we had no recourse. No union, fire at will state, and when there were witnesses to some events, workers were afraid of losing their jobs so they kept closed mouthed. There is much more to the many years of my employment at this place, but my point is that this H.R. persons contract was up and is no longer there. I guess he did the ax job he was hired to do!!!!! Even my boss who was in tight was terminated shortly after me and ..others. So all this being said, my opinion of H.R. has been soured by all this. I can only hope this is not the trend for all companies. Thank for letting me vent!!!!

That's crazy, Sandra!! I can't believe they would bring someone in just to fire people. Guess they didn't want to do the dirty work themselves.
