Hiring process gone too far
Wow no wonder it's hard for employers to find and retain great candidates...I completed an application for a Customer Service Representative based on my experience I was moved on to the next step. This step included personality questions and answers call center type assesment....I passed it. I get a message today about the next step which requires me to answer more questions and to do a video of myself in business attire and if I pass this portion...I will then receive a call from a recruiter. How many hoops does one have to jump through to get a job? The latest hoop is to have the ability to talk to a recruiter not even a interview. I will do it but THIS IS WAY TOO MUCH. Still would have to interview with management, have a background check done and there is still the drug test. Why? I'm not applying for a CEO job and not that 40k is bad but I sold cell phones and never made less than 57k. I never had to jump through so many hoops in my life. It's laughable!
There are way more applicants than jobs so screening to find the right match often takes several stesps especially for front line people who have direct contact with customers and therefore are key to projecting the right image under all circumstances. If you want tp work in this field you should jump through as many hoops as it takes knowing that the more time and money the company spends on screening you, the closer you are to getting hired. Quit if you have background or substance problems, otherwise I'd be patient and use this as a great learning experience in not three hoops from a job.
