Starting over after a long time off due to health to get into coding or records
Hello all. I have been off work due to health issues for about 6 years now. I'm in my 40's, back in school to get my certificate for medical records technician/professional medical coding specialist. I have read that most of the time to get into the field one needs to take a reception job, or just something to get a foot in the door. Admittedly, I have never had to look hard for jobs in the past and this is my first time needing a resume, cover letter, etc.. So this is all new to me. I have a couple of long breaks over the last 15 years or so that I list on my resume as a caregiver, since I was home with my kids. I have put out countless resumes, tweaking it as I get feedback, for the specific job, and just to make it a little cleaner. I am also looking for an internship that I need to complete my program, but have no bites as of yet. Any advice would be great. Thank you in advance.

Hi Denny: Not to worry, listing your caregiver position is great for your resume as well for experience. In regards, see if your school would you accept doing an internship through temp agencies or check your local hospitals
Hi Denny, I read your post and see you're health has improved. Happy for you. Be well
