INTERVIEW TIPS

Good Morning Job Case Community, I hope everybody is having a positive day.

I would like to share some interview tips with the Community Today.

As some of the folks on this site have discovered it takes time and effort to land an interview - so don't let the opportunity go to waste! Take full advantage, even if it isn't for dream job.

*Please remember that you are not the only candidate who applied for, and is interviewing for the open position. You want to take every opportunity to be one step ahead of others who are also interviewing.

Tip 1: These days employers conduct at least two if not three interviews. Usually the first interview is a "distance interview" by phone or by other means of technology such as SKYPE. I myself conduct one phone interview, one skype interview, and at least one in person interview. This helps me weed out candidates that I feel are just not the right fit for the open position.

Tip 2: Take the time to study up on the company you are interviewing with. I look for candidates that have taken time to "brush up" on the company, core values, mission statement, and information pertaining to the position they applied for.

Tip 3: Ask pertinent and insightful questions pertaining to the job you are being interviewed for. Prepare the questions a head of time. Practice them.

Tip 4: Dress for the interview - even if it's just a phone interview. Dressing for the interview gives the candidate that upper edge professional confidence. (Please do not show up for your interview in anything less then professional dress, looking your most professional; well groomed).

Tip 5: Bring a positive attitude! I can not tell you how much the candidate's attitude resonates with those conducting the interview.

Tip 6: Even if it isn't your dream job - consider the interview a GREAT opportunity to practice your interview skills.

Tip 7: Show up on time! Please prepare yourself to arrive at least 15 minutes early. If you get lost on your way or are running late, please contact the person who set up your interview (or the contact name number you have been given) and let them know. Please refrain from wasting other people's time. IF indeed you run late, please ensure you apologize and offer to reschedule if necessary.

Tip 8: Bring copies of your resume, and certificates or certifications you may have. Be ready to hand them out. (Be the first to ask if anybody needs a copy of your most recent resume or certificates).

Tip 9: Body language COUNTS!

Tip 10: If you are called back for a second interview please take the time to do further research on the company and put together another list of questions for the interviewer(s). More than likely you will be seeing the same people you did before and you will want some new material to discuss.

I hope these tips help - GOOD LUCK!
