"We are eliminating that position".....yeah, right!
A friend of mine just got laid off two weeks ago. He says they told him that they were eliminating that job within their department. Sure enough, just today...he saw a listing on a job site for his exact job description with this same company...of course, the salary listed was about 1/2 of what my friend was making. This is getting quite common too. Companies say they are "downsizing" or "eliminating that position"...what they really mean is that you are making too much now and we can get someone much younger, who will work for a lot less than you. I have never worked for any company in my entire career that had any loyalty to ANY employee, no matter how hard they worked, how much they produced...the bottom line is ALWAYS how much you cost, if your salary is getting to a high 5 figure area...you can bet they are most likely trying to figure out how to oust you and get someone who will work for a lot less than you.

The same thing happened to me. They hired 2 temp workers to replace me with different titles so I couldn't sue them

Unless the job site had the companies name in the ad it doesnf't mean a thing.
.Job sites advertise for two reasons: 1) to fill the advertised job and 2) to get new applicants to fill other jobs listed with the job site.
Job sites often use and reuse the same proven generic ad's over and over. Job sites are interested in getting the maximum draw from an advertisement.because the job site has many more jobs open than they find economic to advertise.

your so right, loyalty literally doesnt pay in the long run...you start learning that by 40. Time for me myself and I...at 50!

Youre right for the most part. There are still some companies who value experienced employees and those employees are intensely loyal and driven to produce by loyalty. Too many corps ignore this and chase the buck, only to spend it training new people...over and over and over.......

It seems like employers expect loyalty but they're not willing to give it back. It's been like that for quite a while. It's a shame too because they don't get that they get what they pay for.

I had to quit believing in ANY job once I received a call that literally told me my region was the best in the country but my client and purchased another company and, in the negotiations, some of them would get to keep their jobs. One of which was similar to mine. So, you're the best in the country, but this will be your last month. Sorry. So, now I work from home. www.earndreamincome.com

Wow, that is terrible for your friend. I know about the need for downsizing and saving money and I agree with you completely that we who have worked hard and earned our wages, can be easily let go. T hey can find any reason to let someone go. I knew many people who were on the high end of the pay scale who did not deserve to be there, yet they remained while others suffered because of petty infractions that gave the mana ger reason to let that person go.

Exactly, and some top paid exec.trying to hold on to their salary. After they do what they want done. Then they're going to eliminate their position.

The same thing happened to me. But it was worse. They placed an order of protection against me with stalking charges. No one would hire me. I'm still out of work. All I did was text my old boss, asking why they did this.
I find that rather interesting as it has been my experience the opposite is true. As soon as they have gotten rid of me they hire someone younger (I am now 64 by the way) and pay them MORE money than I was making. Of course they get those who call off at least twice a month, whine all the way through work how tired and bored they are, get done and all ready 5 minutes before the "dot" of the hour when they are to be finished so they can leave immediately, and usually do less work than I did. I am in the customer service industry if that has any pertinence to this conversation. Then all companies do now is complain they cannot find good loyal employees???? Who wants to be loyal when these are the people you WANT and DO hire for the jobs.
