Medical Assistant at Dr Addy Squarer

Office closing and unemployed

The doctor I work for is closing at the end of the month, and come December 1st, I'm out of a job. She told me last me week, and asked me if I was ok with it. I was put on the spot so couldn't say anything much but now I feel heartbroken. I had been wanting to get out of this office but not without finding a job first but now I have to file for unemployment on December 1st unless I find a job first. In a way, I'm relieved but still bummed because no money coming in to pay my bills.

I've exhausted the job search and I haven't heard back from anyone. Should I call them and follow up with them? Any suggestions would be great!

Yes, Call and call frequently. In the mean, try to start your own business like babysitting, walking dogs, Uber, gigs like that . To tie you over. Visit your local church, walk to your library, talk with people for the job your looking for. You have to turn yourself into a investigator, to find that job you want. If you want to stay in the Doctors office look for other openings in the area.

I would follow up with at least some of the applications. Perhaps they can give you some positive feedback in your job search. Good luck to you.

This concern and message just arrived to me now. Interesting. Anyways sweet pea decision of all others what thereafter to fulfill what they need and Circumstance you may not be fair in eyes of others and it's not especially this time of season that what is this time of season actually a week's notice from an employer is probably not appropriate but it depends on the state that you work in and they're allowed to do whatever they want to do no matter how good you are feel good about the fact that you were employed and probably did a great job and you'll do that again best of my wishes to you angel

Yes follow-up via phone not email. If you get hung up with a gate keeper find away around him or her. Don’t wait for them. Go after what you want.

Good luck

Yes call, its the only way to be certain and ease your conscious. Secondly don't feel bad I am looking in my area and all I get is part time nursing aid at nursing homes. I am not sure what to do my self because I work from 32 to 40 hrs a week in my one part time and it gets stressful, but I was told it might just be the timing, a lot of places don't have a lot of openings yet and I left a department at a hospital but they put me on a hiring freeze also so things really suck here, I mean this area is financially depressed and not many businesses so I have to possibly settle for two jobs.

Maybe send a thank you note and move on. December is a difficult time to get a new job, everyone is waiting for a bonus. Keep looking, try temp agencies.
