Dreaming of a simple life!

After 20 years searching for a meaningful career with no success I’ve finally come to a point where I need to re-evaluate my priorities and begin walking down a different path to achieve a more balanced, healthy, and joyful life in my remaining years. The daily rate race to survive cramming 60 hours worth of work into a 40 hour work week just isn’t appealing to me anymore. More money earned only leads to more need; the consumer machine doesn’t stop! I’m divorced with no kids and don’t plan on having children or getting married again anytime soon. Am I being realistic or just burned out? Can anybody relate? Has anyone been able to successfully transition into this kind of life?

The reality is that you are getting the point, that this world is working perfectly to our destruction. No one can be happy, looking for happiness on the money. A lot of people, put theirs faith and hope in the money, saying that money bring happiness, but if you look on the reverse side of every dollar bills, you can read: "In God we trust". So why we going to put faith in the money if the money say that hope is in God's hand? More we have, more headaches. I'm doing the same thing, my friend, simplifying my life. That's the way to have a better life. Jesus said:"Never be anxious... Keep on, then, seeking first the Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these other things will be added to you." Matthew 6:33.

John, it sounds like you're being really honest with yourself. Why chase after a thankless job if it's making too tired to actually enjoy your life when you're not on the clock? Life is too short to not experience the joy in the simple things. I'm really inspired by this honesty - thank you so much for sharing!
