UMN Twin Cities: Prestigious school but easy to get lost in the crowd
Its a very large public research university; you're one of 50,000 college students on campus and class sizes tend to be large. As such, it can be easy to get lost in the crowd and withdraw into yourself if you don't purposely step outside your comfort zone and join some clubs, play intramural sports, and talk to people during class. The college experience is completely what you make of it and nobody will hold your hand and introduce you to friends. It's all up to you to own it and make your 4 years here rewarding and memorable. The classes are tough so you might justify that studying 24/7 is expected, good even. But my 4 years went too fast as I was preparing for pharmacy school and I wish I would've done more fun things and met more people. Regardless, I'm proud to say I'm a UMN alumni and in-state employers will be impressed with your accomplishment of graduating from the UMN.
