What is a good trait to mention as your biggest weakness?
I have an interview coming up at the end of this week and this is always the most difficult question for me to answer. I am interviewing for an entry level software sales position which is a big leap into a different career path for me so I’m a nervous and honestly still a little unsure if this is the right opportunity for me. I usually answer this questions saying that my leadership skills are not as strong as I'd like but I’m a great team player. I feel like that response is okay but it might indicate a lack of long-term commitment and future management potential. What do you think.. Should I be thinking about another answer?

Some times it is good to say I am really conscientious to get my objectives carry out in a relatively short time. You could say if I stop once in a while to see what the other colleagues thought of the situation, I might find an easier way of doing the objective.

My biggest weakness is not liking to talk about my weakness during a job interview! Having been on both sides of this table and having worked with hundreds of people a "good" weakness that most people have to consciously always try to improve is Body Language!

Penny if it's asked, and the DA in today's world take the psychological profile questions to heart, tell them you love chocolate and when you go shopping it's hard to pass up the M&M's. It may be BS but people can relate. Throw the questions which have no bearing on your job performance right back at them in a quite, compliant demeanor. It works every time. By the way...if you get the job make sure you have some M&M's at home:) And for God sake do not let them think your leadership skills suck; most people are followers:) To all other commenters; I am not politically correct nor will I ever be, have a great day:)

This is a behavioral interview question and it is a very common interview question, check out this answer. My biggest weakness is having very little to no patience when co -workers withhold information to ruin the success of an assignment. I have tried to really maximize knowledge sharing by bringing co-workers together on any assignment to make sure that everyone is on the same page. Yet there have been times where people withheld information after these efforts..However, i have learned to privately speak to that person in order to understand why. Thus, this example helps

To me leadership skills are shown during the work day, not in the interview, unless of course you are interviewing for a leadership position. My biggest weakness is that I struggle with uncaring attitudes expressed, and statements such as "I don't care", ' Not my job," or that killer of innovation and new ideas, "We've always done it that way." These attitudes tend to frustrate me, so I work at understanding motivation, encouragement, and make sure any suggestions for improvement and /or change are actually good ideas, not just stating the problem with no fix. That you've struggled with your weaknesses shows that you're not just some rank and file functionary.

The fact that you're honest about your answer is good and as time goes on you can work on your leadership skills.

One,it's always good to be honest and straight forward. The thing is,if you truly want that position want to make sure that There is nodoubt you would make a very Good canadate for this position.limited Experience but being a quick learner, Hard worker you would be an asset to this Company.with a good attitude .we all have our weaknesses but we also have our strengths that can definitely outweigh our Weakness's what helps me is that I meditate and ask God for direction in this Matter.soothes my nerves ,builds confidence.I truly hope that this was of some help.I'm looking for work as well And at times I get stressed but I know stress can cause people to get sick.

I have found it is good to tout doing too much of a good thing. Like being a perfectionist or too detail oriented. You can then explain that you handle the 'flaw' by backing off a bit. Hope this helps.

Penny with a question concerning weakness or failure you want to give an answer that displays you in a common humanistic-yet positive way. After telling about the weakness, you should always tell how this had helped in some way. Example, one of my weaknesses is I hate to leave anything undone: I prefer to complete everything before end of day and because of that I have found myself skipping lunch, working over and having an assertive approach with vendors. After missing some deadlines I realized end of day completions are not always possible. I now set up priorities based on organizational and department needs, develop a timeline, set up reminders electronically and collaborate expectations with all vendors. This has allowed me to develop, better work life balance and improve customer /vendor relations. Again always leave the interviewer with a positive image of you.-you have a flaw, recognized it, worked on it, results improved and now you can use it to help them. Be blessed!
You can say at times you are to eager to carry out the objective, that if you stop sometimes and take a moment to listen to your colleagues, you might find an easier way of carrying out the objective. Not all the times, but sometimes.
