not rehired to a job I was laid off from

I was laid off from a Job in March 2018 they recently posted the job again hiring 10 people I reapplied and was granted an interview but two weeks later I was told that they had found better qualified candidates! for a Job I literally did just over 1 year ago and for 3 years. I'm thinking there is more to it than that and I'm tempted to reach out to my old boss and ask him what happened, but I'm thinking it would probably be pointless. I found a job that I've been working, but it pays significantly less than my old job. I'm assuming the company has no requirement to rehire laid off workers, but it just doesn't seem right that they should do this to me I mean the interview was with my Old boss seems odd they would even waste my time with the interview if they had no intention of rehiring a displaced worker... anyway maybe I just needed to vent ,but I've been very confused and disappointed about this the last few days. #layoff #laidoff #rehire

Rachel, Just move on I am sure you gained valuable experience from this experience. Let the next employer that you interview with see that. This is probably a stepping stone for the job that the man above has planned for you. Keep sending out those resumes and never give up until you obtain employment. TYJ

Well that was just cruel. I don't know what your relationship was with them when you left but this has been my experience: laid off is usually a nice term for fired. Some companies use lay off as a way to make it a little easier for a person to get unemployment and it is easier to explain in interviews. The fact that they re-interviewed you though, makes me think that they may have had to legally because enough time hadn't passed between your lay off and their posting the job. I'm only guessing here because I'm not in HR. The two times I was "laid off" I knew I wasn't going back.

It sucks but I wouldn't spend anymore time fretting over it. We are loyal to our employers but in the end very few of them are loyal to their employees. You will find something better.

Dude.. move on they dont deserve ya.. Hell I've been a due paying member of my organization 20 years That's 20... vested years, and not to blow my tune or anything, but I've got all the skill and ability to just bout do anything the job calls for, w/o question, one of the most hardest, and true, honest workers... and theres many slackers, anyway, a few managerial changeover, new outta towner take overs and now my brothers of 20 years working all their buddies.. before me. It hurts. hurts real bad, especially when your on 3rd base got only couple years and these guys suddenly dont know your name...it takes 500 hours from the day I file my retirement in order to qualify sh#@!, I'm starving now... They ain't giving me now they wont next year.. so I lose?? yep. truth is. ain't nobody giving a hoot. they use u they abuse you including one of America's largest strongest unions so sad...
