Is this the "New Norm?"

I continually receive information about job offers from random emails without professional support of any sort. Is this a new way of hiring or is this a scam of sorts? I have been trying to figure out what their purpose would be if it is a scam, but I have no clue. They are always hiring and they have no business name attached to the email. They say they've obtained my information from a career engine but never mention which engine. They usually ask me to email them directly and not the company/ What is this really about? No, you are not getting my information until I do diligent research. I hope no one else gives up their information while they await their time to secure gainful employment. Can someone please explain what these people are possibly doing? Is my caution impeding my opportunities for a new career? Does anyone else see this as unusual? Here is an example... irshadfreebirds@gmail.com Mar 13 to dalilonekkdh We found out your profile details and email from careers online resource. Good question, Phyllis. There are a few ways this job posting could go. Scammers post jobs like this to either collect information in order to steal from you, or to trick you into sending them money. They might end up asking you for your bank account information so that they can clean out your account themselves (which is why I suggest you NEVER give out your bank account information!) or they might try to trick you with the Fake Check scam (which is why I suggest you NEVER accept a check from a stranger! read more about fake check scams here: http://www.fraud.org/fake_check_scams).

Shady job postings like this might seem stupid or pointless but I assure you they wouldn't keep posting them if they weren't making money off of them. Genevieve's right that a legit job wouldn't send you an email from a Yahoo account. There are a few other ways to spot and avoid job scams, and you can check out my list here: https://www.jobcase.com/conversations/99b495e9-df66-5cb0-90f3-61718b0d4ecc

I hope that helps!

Phyllis, this is most definitely a scam!!! Any recruiter who is reaching out to you with a legitimate job offer will not be using a yahoo, gmail, etc email account. Things to be wary of are also spelling errors, asking to set up an interview via Google hangouts, and if they say they will send you a check to purchase equipment you may need for the job.
