Name 1 book you’ve read that can help me improve self confidence.
I’ve been out of work for almost a year and recently find myself struggling with poor self image and doubt. Any quick read suggestions to help me overcome this experience is appreciated. Thanks

The Energy Bus by Jon Gordon

There is no book that's more Powerful, Inspiring and up-lifting than the Bible. You need courage? Read the Bible. You need self confidence? Read the Bible. You need something to get rid of the self doubt? Read the Bible. In All things "you can" if you will take on the attitude that "YOU CAN". Believe it, practice it, WALK IT! We are only defeated when we believe we are defeated, but when you believe that you are what God says you are, Winners, overomers, successful, then you start becoming those things. Claim what's yours, "Life and more abundantly" and you will have it. And this is how you will know that it's God moving in your life; It will always come with confirmation of some sort, He will reaffirm it through something or somebody. So don't lose hope, gain Faith!

"Happy for New Reason"

Hello, Sheila Glidden:
I can definitely sympathize with what you've written in your post. I have been out of work for awhile myself, and am finding it very difficult to find Entry-Level employment as a Medical Administrative Assistant or Medical Receptionist. I had a great education from an accredited online college program, and I did very well. However, it seems that most employers want to see 3-5 years of relevant experience, or they won't bother. It is very frustrating, wondering how to begin to acquire that experience when few if any employers will hire Healthcare college graduates. I have found a book that I think you might enjoy and benefit from... it has certainly helped me change MY perspective on things, as well as alleviate a lot of the self doubt that I was feeling. It is called "What Color Is Your Parachute", by Richard Nelson Bolles. I'm sure that you can find it on Amazon, if not at Barnes and Noble or Border's. I hope this helps. Best of luck to you, and don't give up hope! You are only as good to an employer as you will allow yourself to believe that you are!

I can name many, this may not be for you, but I have found the Bible to be a great comfort to me for all my needs. However, here are a few others that may be of interest to you. 7 Spiritual Laws Of Success (Deepak Chopra), The Secret (Rhonda Byrnes), The Happines Project (Gretchen Rubin), The Road Less Traveled, (M. Scott Peek), The Power of Positive Thinking (sorry, I can't remember who the author is on that one). I hope this helps. But you know what, you really don't need any books, just be who you are and the right job will come.

Well, claiming the veneer of a bad ass could possibly alienate all other non-bad ass people. And, I think we have enough swollen egos and swagger in this nation of ours. I would suggest you light the self-confidence lamp from within...read THE ALCHEMIST by Paulo Coelho. Lots of insight into the job search process and self-doubt that should have a lasting effect on you

I dunno about this one I mean I've read a lot of books like If you think you can you can but actually I have never read a book to help my self confidence like the one mentioned by Kelly Baird .... not saying that I wouldn't as I know that I would, I'd pop down to the library or the bookshop and go read it. No for me it's more visual the cover of the book that Kelly mentions fires all the endorphins in my brain the typeface is nice the colours suit the background the cover really stands out and that makes me think that heck I can do that or that actually fits a personal project that I'm doing at the moment ....... you see it people and things that give us the confidence to try something out ourselves , you've struggled and I know how that feels having been there myself but trust me you count there is no one else on this planet like you ......by that I mean In my field I see something and I feel that I can make that thing better by adding to it that give me the self confidence and sense of achievement ...... so by all means reed the books but remember you are you and only you can create "brand you" within that brand is everything that you love doing that is your work push for that

Hello Sheila: I am not one to suggest books written by other people in such a case to help one with their self esteem. I tell you from experience and counseling others. Self esteem is not something we can parallel from one person to another. It has to be known and felt by the one who feels affected. Self esteem is something you learn about on your way to your path of life. Once you see what your problem is and has been, you develop a plan not to allow it to take you down, but keep going, persevere, and don't stop until you get what it is that you want. Hope I have helped you some. Thanks for asking me.
