Burn out nurse
Is it worth me going back to school. I been at this job 16 years I have no benifits, no holiday pay. They cut off the insurance. I am trying to look for another job but I am not having luck. I am going to school for my bachelor but I think it's a waste if no other job wants me as a nurse. If I can start over again I never would have became a nurse.

Hi Petrina, You seem very pleasant and also a nurse, WOW! that is unfortunate you have no benefits or holiday pay. I understand you deserve so much more for completing that degree and sacrificing so much of you personal time to accomplish your RN degree. I would maybe register with an RN agency. Good Luck!

I suggest going into either home health care, or hospice. OF course, you could also work at a doctor's office.
Do not mention burn out in your interviews! They will not hire someone who has lost their passion as a nurse.
Going to school for your bachelors would be quite expensive, and not gain much ground unless you desire to be a teacher.
I pray God will lead you where He wants you.

Wow! Just the opposite for me. Been an RN for 20 plus years. Have made anywhere from &80K - $100K for many years now. ADN here as well. ER, ICU, Home Health, Senior Management etc. Currently DON/ Corporate Compliance Officer. Licensed in 13 states. Make the change girl. Start traveling and get more marketability for yourself. Make it work for you, hold your head up ! You have a lot to offer.

Since you're unhappy, I suggest looking for another job. When you are burnt out and unhappy, you won't perform well. Are you tired of nursing or just of your current position? Are you able to move? If you still like nursing, look for another position where you can use your skills. If you're tired of nursing, it makes sense to train for another career area. Either way you may benefit from continuing education, so when looking for a new job consider whether they will pay for classes. We spend so much of our life's time at work, it's a shame to spend it somewhere you're miserable and not well compensated for your time and effort. Good luck!

Petrina lets try something different here. Forget about the work from home or be your own boss crap. I recognise that it's your mental health here. Stay in nursing but move with me here a min. You appear to need a vacation. You've drained your mental capacity for what you can handle right now. I want you to save one months pay, pay the rent or mortgage up for two months, make sure that you've got food for two weeks easy in the house, and then resign form that position. Come on now you're a 16 yr person on this job and one or two more months ain't going to kill you. Now use the off time to relax, sleep, taste your food, and go see the family. Your mental capacity has been over extended and I have reason to believe that all you do is see sickness and death. Next I want you to tell me what you like most in life and what you think that you want to do with the remainder of your life. You are so young and it's way too early for you to go into depression and anxiety here. And for goodness sakes don't do no work from home crap. Sit on the sidelines for a moment. I'll message you so we can talk. I lived on Power Line Rd. and I lived on Carol City for a yr or two so Jackson Memorial and Broward Gen Hospitals were my second homes. We'll talk, and I promise you that.

Give yourself a. hug. You go petrinalouis
Miss Louis get off of your petty committee try the group homes for the mentally and physically challenge they are always hiring. until you get your bachelor's degree but for the future computers robotics and medical fields will still be happening unless your degree is in business than you can market yourself or try a private duty nursing agency. Peace be with you
