How often do you read company reviews online before an interview? I’m scheduled to meet with a recruiter for a national cable company that was really excited about until I read the employee reviews on Glassdoor. Current and former employees had some really discouraging comments to share about managers, customers, and the work environment. The overall rating is 2.5 out of 5. I’m not going to back out of the interview but I’m concerned over what I read. Should I find a way to politely ask about some of these issues during the interview?

I wouldn't back out but I would ask them about it.

I read reviews before I took a tech job and I read a lot of negative complaints but I chose to ignore them. Unfortunately a lot of the bad reviews were right I learned that the hard way.try using the negative reviews you read to form questions to your concerns.

I always review a job company first to get more information about that all departments. Yes you go always see someone downing them but that don't mean the same will happen to you. You can ask as many questions you need at the interview that's what they want they there to answer all questions regarding to there company. Never go off what others say cause you might end up loving the job give them a try and see for yourself and good luck on the your new job.

Yes i always read company's reviews to found out more about the job there's nothing wrong with that. At every interview at the end he or she will ask you what you wanna know about the company that's when you start asking question's to found out more about the company that tell them you did your research and it also give you a better idea if the job right for you never go off what others say before giving them a try cause you mighy turn out to love the job and you grow with that company good luck and hopefully i answered your questions let me know how it went.

What you read is probably true. I guess I just think how I can help to improve the company and bring a positive attitude to work as often as possible. You know it is true it only takes one Manager to change a whole departments sense of giving their all. It is really sad. Most of the time the people at the top is too busy to even listen. As their numbers and metrics is what counts. It all does come out in the wash, so to speak. I would say if you are paid well and know you can make a difference with your work every day--give it your best and sometimes things do change for the positive.

Nicole, It is always good to do your research on a company that your applying for. Learn what you can about them from their website and from the community that surrounds them. Never bother to read about the reviews online for they are not from an actual person you know in life or have met. . I does not matter if the person had a falling out with a supervisor or was refused time off.Once a person becomes a disgruntled employee, he/she will nitpick the company apart.

Nicole,
Take the employee reviews with a grain of salt because even sour grape reviews are prompted by something. Listen closely to the people who interview you and ask them this very important question - What do you enjoy about your role with the company? If the answer to the question leads to answers that have a negative slant then odds are you should look for another company to work for.

I would like to any assistant post as general worker .

I would suggest you complete the entire interview process and form your own opinion. Disgruntled or terminated employees are typically the people who post online negative reviews. Unfortunately. Just like happy customers, happy employees don't jump on a soap box to shout out how great their experience was or is.
Keep in mind that "the squeaky wheel gets the oil". Those who have a gripe about something are far more apt to write a review compared to those who find the product, person, company, organization,... agreeable and satisfying. You might look on Linked-In, find a number of employees who work in the department where you would be, and ask for their view of the company, both those who have been there for a long period and those who have been there for only 2 years or so. Good luck.
