Job interview scam
This happened to me yesterday. First I received an email from a nikopatty@comcast.net instructing me to sign up Hangouts and contact a Kristina Starks ( kristinastarks7@gmail.com) for an interview. Kristina messaged me on Sunday afternoon for the interview, I declined. She then messaged me yesterday morning at 6:00 am central standard time (this tells me she did not even do any due dilligent as to where I'm located). I responded to her to chat at 7:00am. We were on hangout and she gave me this website ( www.ihcgroup.com )to review for 10 minutes, then informed me of the job description and benefits. She then sent me 5 questions to answer and once I'm done to respond DONE. She sent another 5 questions. Told me I'll have to work from home until the new office is completed, soon. Then I am to order equipment and supplies from one of their contracted vendor, and a check will be mailed to me. The hiring manager will contact me with full details this morning at 8:00 am but that never happened. I noticed that Kristina was active on hangout for about 40 minutes before I decided to shut off my computer. Earlier this morning, I went to the IHC Group website and tried to see if the job was posted. Nope. I then sent an email via their "contact us" inquiring if there was this position that I was interviewed for. I received an email back from IHC Group that the interview was a job scam and apologized for it and also advised me to contact the authority. I was lucky that I did not go out and purchase any items. Both email addresses and time of the message caused me to question what company used employees personal email address and setting an interview for Sunday? Please be cautious with these calls.

good thing you were able to catch it before committing

I just had this too today..slightly different but after completing everything, and being told I was received as a good person for the position they asked for me to send a copy of my driver's license and bank info over to their dept because it's a w2 position they said. I said I needed a phone # to verify them with the company. They responded all employees send their information. I said I would not do that til I had a phone number to verify their identity because my documents are for my security and I pay attention to fraudulent activities that occur day to day of identity theft or stolen identities

Hello, my name is Jorge Munguia Galaz, from Mexico would like to ask you, please, if you can help me with an answer, a very similar case happened to me on Facebook, for reasons that are a bit long to explain, I realized that it was a scam I have photos, videos capturing cell phone numbers, photos participating in the crime, contact names and all the data, as well as a follow-up of their public groups where they post, which include 10 American states, in the aforementioned social network and you, are making known to the Comcast company, by means that I can prove in images specific and direct question is, if you already have all the data and evidence of the offender and the use of his name to commit scams too many people, I would have the obligation to use my logic without knowing The law tells me that they would be like accomplices if the company does not act if many people are being affected, or what do you think? I appreciate your comment to know how to proceed.

Here in Ventura County, CA. the job posting was in a Facebook group. and you had the message the poster, then he would send the instructions to download google chat and give you the email of the "HR Dept" and a code so that they can do the "online interview" When I asked for a website other than facebook to see a job posting she said "this is a legitimate company" and I said "yeah sounds like it. thanks no thanks"

I just received notifications for this company.Waiting on supervisor to send paperwork to sign for job. Said taxes were taken out and ask if that was OK. Was also told no cost as long as I had a All in one Printer.

It happened me today got an email from Kathy Templeton from comcast company wanting my ss# because I don't have a bank and I would have to pay $150 for shipping and would mail me a check for equipment

I fell for it. I sent my ID but when she asked for my banking info, I said no. I don't know what to do now!

I had to purchase my own computer, phone and headset for my remote job. Eight years later and I am still here. Not every employer who requires you to purchase equipment is a scam.
What happens if you give them your email? Can they do anything with only that piece of info?
