Why don't more companies develop Apprenticeship programs for HS Grads?

College is slowly but surely phasing out as a viable option for HS seniors. Not only because of the the astronomical tuition cost but mostly due to the inability to secure an industry related job without prior experience. I think it's time for corporate america to step in and create a better option.

As a retired journeyman machinery mechanic, I was able to pursue my degree in management while I continued to work for them. However, when I graduated, I wasn't going to be allowed to function in that role. I was going to be an adult "babysitter". I didn't go to school for 6 years part time to be an adult babysitter. The apprenticeship route is a great route for employers who want to keep employees motivated to stay with them.

Yes, however, there are many times where you can get into a student internship and get paid for it. this will greatly increase your chances and gain experience for future jobs after graduation from college. Most of the times the workplace does not have to pay for these student internships as well. Now, businesses cannot legally have unpaid internships or apprenticeships if there is a position that could be a paying position.

My student internship in a HR department helped me greatly!
