I had given my resume to my fiancee to give to his boss so when I apply for a job I want I have a good chance. His boss said he didnt care for the format is there a specific format that hiring employers pick??

Hi Michele: There's no one standard format for resumes, but if you want to play it safe, I recommend using Arial or Times New Roman. Those are generally the most-used resume fonts.
