RMA recert is crazy.
AAAAHHHHHH! So frustrated in the medical assistant field.... I need to recertify but since I'm not actually in an office and not giving shots or drawing blood that's a problem. I'm currently working doing all the RMA responsibilities with a company that works with big time hospitals and I help the medicare patients through their doctors offices associated with the hospitals. So Im using all the medical assisting skills but actually putting a needle and someone which I did for 15yrs until Feb 2018 where now I am a phone and ensuring quality of care/ save the office from wrong info in EMR or if patient does not understand this and that I help them and get it all together for wellness exam to help everyone BUT....is it not enough to retake the RMA Certification. Im not being snooty but The test was taken back in 2005 I did really well,I was valedictorian of my medical assistant class, and I worked as lead RMA at the same office for 15 years doing front and back office... but now I'm still using all those skills but the actual sticking patients with a needle so can't be certified???? That's crazy!!! So looking for advice on what to do to make sure my medical assisting certification is good to go and updated. I hope that the $25000 I spent originally to take this program is not gonna have to be pocketed out again so I can be where I need to be even know I'm doing what I'm supposed to do within that job title. Grrr I want to be ok and legal and can't. Thanks for any advice!

What help did you give this woman? Zip as far as I can see. On the plus side at least you didn't tell her to pray.

Now working as Lead and a company that works for major hospital for they doctor's offices doing medicare patient wellness. I told my love it but now I really need to you recertify my Medical assisting certification the problem is that all of my work includes patient care without shoving a needle in them or doing in AKG everything else I'm doing but I have to get the skills that I am not using anymore. Looking for advice on recertifying my RMA Even though I do not do that 1 section of Medical assisting skills. Oh and also I work for a company not the actual doctor office to sign off on my medical assisting skills. Such a pain to trying to be Up-to-date with certification even though I have done my continuing Ed but because it was taken over 15 years ago even though I worked 15 years in internal medicine doing it all is not working out With the whole certification renewing. All MA's get how that at 1 time cost me a lot of money and not needing to redo full yr of classes.

Hi JENNIFER Burgess - I'm sorry to hear about you losing your job twice! That is awful that you had to go through that! What type of role are you looking to go back to? You mentioned being the lead RMA but also that you are looking for any job with good pay.
Knowing your career dream will help you focus more effectively on the jobs that you really want!
I hope this has helped :), please let me know how else I can assist you.
Hello Jennifer Burgess,
Please forgive me for my ignorance regarding your field of work. I was just curious if you would be able to volunteer your time to a free clinic, and by doing so, you would be able to meet with the requirements that you had mentioned in your post.
I do hope that you can find a way that will give you the opportunity to be able to qualify to recertify your RMA status. You have chosen such a noble profession along with your devotion and high placement while schooling in the field that it would be a shame not to due to a ludicrous technicality.
I wish you the best in your professional pursuits.
Regards,
Patrick Coppedge
