Hi Dawn Bradley ! Here is the New Jersey state requirements to gain your [certification] (https://www.state.nj.us/education/educators/license/req/). It varies from state to state, but where I taught in RI you needed one for sure!

FYI I have been in the classroom for over 10 years and I have completed 2 rounds of mentoring but because the jobs were either long term sub or PT, I am not considered to have a STANDARD certification yet. I feel like state sponsored mentoring is no longer necessary, but I don't want my lack of standard cert to keep me out of the classroom.
