Watch your back, don't get too friendly, and never submit to do something that goes against your morals.

I've had the bad fortune of having worked with and under some shady characters in the past and I can add that's it's a stressful experience. I disliked being put in situations where I had to alter the truth to cover for their activities in order to keep my job. I suggest you stay low on the radar and find patience because those people eventually turn shades into clouds and get fired or asked to leave.

Yes. Unfortunately she wrote me up for her mistakes which she blamed on me,. I was eventually fired. I felt as if my hands were tied as she had been wit the company for 8 years. In the future I plan to document anything that seems suspicious. Another thing you can do is send her an email confirming what she is asking you to do and blind copy it to your personal email.

What if the situation is one where the person is your Manager and throwing you under the bus because what they instructed you to do failed and you are being used as their escape goat?

If you feel that someone is doing something illegal you need to tell someone. If this person is making you feel uncomfortable the you need to tell someone. if they are doing something shady on their free time not at work then police but remember you cant make good choices for others and don't be scared to confront them yourself find for sure before you accuse anyone.
