Unsure of Career path
Are there site or programs out there geared to accurately assess my qualifications? I've worked in a variety of fields, and enjoyed several. But, "Am I correct in my self assessment of training." I ask myself. I don't want to be saying I can do a job then find out I really can't or shouldn't list the skill I thought I had. It is unfair to the companies and hurts my chances at finding that dream job. JobCase is welcome to forward messages and emails on this if it is possible

Hi David: Interesting question! I think apart from self-assessment quizzes (like the one here: http://www.cao.ac.za/Quiz.aspx) the best way to figure out what your skills are is to be honest with yourself about what you bring to the table. Maybe ask past colleagues and friends to tell you what they think your strengths are?

That's a real solid question you're asking David. On of the biggest concerns we often hear from hiring managers is that few applicants have an ability to properly market their skills to meet the demands of the specific job their pursuing. An honest and personal inventory is needed. US Department of Labor sponsors a site called MyNextMove.org that has some assessment tools you should check out in addition to Mariah's suggestion. Also, take a look at CareerOneStop for similar tools or search for career development resources in your area. Thanks for sharing your question with the community and keep us posted on your progress.
