
Quick hire, quick fire
Here is my story. I am looking for a job for a while now. I am a foreigner. In my country I am pretty aducated ( two masters) and some good experience in well known companies, which means I am kinda overqualified. It's ok for me. I am ready to start from a little position. I got a call from this European company. They hired me with not drug test, no contract signing. Well the job is not crazy hard, just data entry. But my supervisor (she is General Manager's wife) so very emotional person. Every my mistake where exaggerated, she was panicing EVERY time she thought I will possibly do something wrong. She was always making me feel like I am so dumb. Even she use to be a waitress and has no college degree. She had this crazy panic attacks every 30 minutes. She was running to GM office every time complaining on me. In two months I got fired for not doing my job. And it just happened that I met a girl that used to work for the same company! I told her and she was laughing she said - I am the same dumb as you are! Same mistakes, same humiliation! EVERYTHING! I hated every day working with her. There was one girl before me, she could not take this superviser anymore, she asked couple of days off. GM just just told her - don't come at all. They hiring people with no contract and firing with no resignation letters. Is there any way to complain on them for verbal abuse as well?
Oh my gosh, that sounds like such a toxic workplace - I can't believe that supervisor is still there (although it makes sense, considering she's the general manager's wife). I'm glad you're out of there. I'm not sure who you can complain to about the office, outside of the EEOC - and this organization is meant to protect you in case of workplace discrimination.
