I worked as an Operations Manager for 2+ years. On Feb. 9th I did hurt myself working at the store, and did mention about it to the GM and other employees at the time. I did not have a chance to go to the Doctor until my day off on Tuesday Feb. 14th., but at that time I used my own insurance. It was the sciatic nerve, they gave me medication, recommended rest and I had a follow up visit on March 1st.. After my doctor visit I took Wednesday Feb. 15th off as a sick day to try to recover. On Thursday the 16th. I received a text asking me to go early to a meeting, I arrived to the store and they let me go. My insurance ended on Tuesday Feb. 21st, and since the GM did not enter the injury as workman's comp related, I did not go to my follow up appointment. I called the company and explained the situation, that the injury was a the time I was still an employee, but they have a third party handling the case and I have been waiting for over a month for an answer. What can I do?

Reality is the company got scared and saw you as a liability because you got hurt on the job. You should call the third party handling the case and a deadline of when it will be resolved and I mean an actually date. You can seek legal advice, but hiring a lawyer to fight case would cost you more.
