Mom was diagnosed with AD

Recently my mom was diagnosed with A.D i missed a few days of work informed my assistant manager at the time manager wasnt available. Came back to work a few days later and i was terminated for no call no show? Well if i let them know i had a family emergency a few days prior doesnt that give a clue in there heads well maybe hes still dealing with his family issues. Honestly i didnt need to let them know about my mothers conditions because that is personal but they showed no sympathy towards my situation i explained to the manger and he was like there was nothing they can do.. Since i was part time i wasnt protected under any laws.. This put a big dent in my work history so what should i do? Should i contact HR ?

Hi andrew schmitt I am so sorry that your mother has been having a difficult time. I hope she feels better soon! I am sorry to also hear that you lost your job. Unfortunately, as an at-will employee, they do have a right to terminate your employment especially if they did not receive any warning. Does it make it right or fair? Absolutely not. However, it sounds like you will be better suited in a place of employment that can properly support you! Keep looking and keep your chin up!
