Christian Fekete as we get older it is natural to have some fears due to our age. However, fear can be a debilitating strong hold in life. Life is and has always been about facing challenges. When we face challenges it is an opportunity to utilize our past experiences and put them into play in a different situation. You can look at the glass half empty or half full. You were created for such a time as this!!! Be Blessed and Highly Favored.

Embracing your fear of change is important but its more important to remember you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you As long as you're alive its never too late to keep living

That's a reasonable worry.
If at all possible, I'd recommend keeping your current job while you train for your next career.
Start working on on how you will answer questions about why you changed fields. Start making connections in your new field by meeting and talking with people who are currently in that field and can tell you more about how to prepare and what the prospects are in that area. How much of a pay cut can you afford -- as you will probably be much more "junior" in your new field. Best wishes!

I'm in the same boat as you, kind of. I'm 53, and have a stable job with my company but would really prefer to do something else. I'm stuck at my desk the entire day. I can't see myself doing this for the rest of my 20+ working years.

My husband was 53 when he lost his job as a General manager at a concrete company, GREAT job. At 53 he applied for no lie over 250 jobs, most low paying jobs that's all that's out there? He would apply & they would respond over qualified, really? Everything is online so we imagine that someone hiring would picture an old bald fat guy which is NOT the case... After 2 years he gave up & took a job as a taxi driver , sad very sad :-(

I’m here to provide encouragement and wisdom that has elevated me.

Hang in there Mr. Fekete. We know worry won't help you any bit. If you decide on a new path make sure you are passionate about it, no age can stop the power of passionate energy.

I don't know how much experience you have but is it possible to move into a coaching or consulting role for younger less experienced Architects?
