Starting over at 49

Bill Clinton was the president the last time I had a job. I was a stay at home mom living in an abusive relationship with my husband all those years. Now, recently divorced and looking to start my life over again but my confidence and self esteem are at an all time low. The fear of more rejection has got me paralyzed. Any suggestions how I can get started?

For starters, you want to take things step by step. What you're going to need is patience and an outward confidence in yourself. Even if you don't feel confident, you want to project confidence so employers take notice. Treat every step as a victory, whether it's completing your resume, or applying to as many jobs as possible. It also helps if you have friends you can vent to so you can relieve some of your stress. Above all else, keep in mind that your self esteem will not come back at once, but KNOW that it can come back. That's a key step because when people are down in the dumps, they feel that they'll never get their mojo back. Have confidence that you'll get it back, and I promise that you will.
