Work from Home
I am having the hardest time finding a job to fit my family and our schedule. I have been a military wife living overseas for the past 16 years with jobs here and there as we were moving every 2 years or less. I am now moving back to the US with the kids while my husband finishes up his tour in Africa. My resume is splotchy because of the frequent jobs. Most civilian companies do not understand this and only see it as multiple jobs, for short terms that = to I cannot hold a job for very long. I am moving to Mississippi and could really use help and support in finding a "work from home" job in data entry, medical records entry, long hand dictation, etc. I have done the direct sales stuff and it is just not for me. I am really feeling defeated right now and s=could use some positive vibes. Anyone know of "work from home" or jobs for military spouses? TIA!

HI Jennifer, Military spouses are too often overlooked and unsung heroes. That pic is awesome - impressed and appreciative of all those ribbons and what they represent! So THANK YOU to not just your husband but to you as well of course. I am blessed with daughters who never give a thought to dangers that are normal for other kids their age around the world - thanks to all the awesome folks - AND THEIR FAMILIES - in our military - so thank you! that being said...
Please fight that 'defeated' feeling. I get it, but every day there are more remote and work from home opportunities. And 'splotchy resumes' are no longer that problematic in a private industry world where the average 25 year old has already had 7 jobs (DOL stat). I know that Amazon is an example of a company that is actively thinking about how to support Military spouses with flexible options. And others are too.
So - question: what kind of work do you want, and what would be the min comp? I think your profile looks pretty good - it also suggests to me a lot of competency and value in diff areas. Suggest you narrow focus a bit and let me - and other jobcasers - know a few specifics of what you'd like to do and see what connections/advice/sourced jobs come up from the community.
ps: jobcase is working on a larger project of capturing work-from-home opps in more user friendly way that that which is currently mixed into our jobs section. not coming out in may but soon - so later this year these kind of pursuits are easier to find here. In meantime, you might also want to check into Upwork - its not for regular work, but lots of 1-off gigs available to supplement $ while looking for a more regular job.
