Getting the run around lately.........a learning experience.
I have been getting the run around lately when it has come to some of the job interviews that I have had in the past couple of months. I will go trough the first interviewing process and end up doing well then the recruiter will talk about the second interview.
Giving me the name of the contact person who will be calling me. They reassure me that I am a good fit. Then a couple of days or maybe even a week goes by. I have not heard anything so I will send out a follow up email and I do not get a response. I do know that one of the recruiters is someone that I had a bad experience with before. I decided to give her another chance because she was the recruiter for the job that I am interested in.
However once again she disappointed me with no second interview or follow up. This is after she gave in the info on who is going to call me for the second interview. What I have learned in the past almost 2 years now that I have been looking for a job. That there are some recruiters that are not very good and do not have your best interest at heart.
Hi Joey! Working with recruiters can be tough, because in some ways your candidacy relies on their level of professionalism and engagement. If you get a great recruiter, you can be employed within a few weeks, while a poor recruiter can leave you hanging on with the promise of employment for months on end. The job market also wanes and waxes regularly, independent of how professional or engaged your recruiter may be. I've definitely been there before, in both cases!
If this recruiter doesn't have a good track record with you, then I wouldn't rely too heavily on her to lead your job search process. Start looking independently, if you haven't already. It's also not a crime to shop around at different agencies. The one thing I would recommend is that you let them know that you're with other agencies and be transparent about which positions those other agencies are connecting you with. If you can spread your job search net as wide as possible, you're more likely to catch the attention of employers. Best of luck!
