Trying to go to culinary school
Im glad i found a food site to join. I would love to go back to school for a career change. Cooking is something special to me since i was a kid. But finding a school without having to take out a loan is not what i need. I did that with Everest college and got totally screwed over. How can i get a degree in culinary without cutting off my arm to sell it so i can afford it!? Lol.
Hi April: That's a great question! My brother was in the same position as you - he worked as a line chef at a popular chain restaurant, but he wanted to rise up the ranks and become a chef. Turns out that a lot of restaurants will offer you specific culinary training if you demonstrate that you want to improve yourself. I'd start with this route - that way, you're making a paycheck, but you're also getting the skills you need to become a better chef. Sometimes the best school is hands-on experience!
