I just may be the droid you are looking for.

Interesting Week: Fish Are Nibblin'

I interviewed for a short term contract position for a luxury boutique cruise line last Friday and I landed the job. However, they want to start me off p/t for a "couple of weeks" so I can ramp up on their processes. Not ideal, but OK. It pays less than what I was making previously, but the HM and I hit it off during the interview (over an hour!)

Today, I just got an email for an interview with another company for tomorrow at 3 PM. It might be interesting if they also offer me a position and I have to tell the previous folks I may have to pass as I need to be back to work FT.

I also had an interview scheduled with a roofing company but I also had a meeting scheduled about two hours prior...and I knew that I would never get to the interview in time, so I asked to re-schedule. Got an email telling me that they would let me know as they were only interviewing TODAY. (It paid $15 an hour---which was an issue I was going to bring up)

Anyways, things are looking up. It's a slog, but you have to keep going.

Jim, that is awesome, congratulations! I think you should go ahead and go on the second interview and if they offer you the job with more pay and full time hours and benefits, there's nothing wrong with turning down the part time cruise job. Just let them know that you got a better offer. Your opportunities are starting to come pretty rapidly so I think maybe you should take your time and schedule your interviews in a manner that works best for you. Then once you have gone on all of your interviews sit down and figure out which one of those jobs would be the best fit for you in terms of what you're looking to do with your career. Of course, you do have to look at the financial aspect of it, but career wise you do have to start looking at what you want to do in terms of bringing about the best possible training and what you see yourself doing in 5 to 10 years. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you the way you want!

Jim, Congratulations, as it looks like you will be landing something imminently. It is wonderful to see that you have a few choices but full-time is definitely the way to go especially in respect to receiving health benefits and a 401K plan with an employer match.

All the best,

Sounds like things are really coming together for you, Jim! Do you have any advice you'd like to share with Jobcasers who may be going through a similar slog?
