Which one was YOUR favorite?
It’s teacher appreciation week!! Think back to that ONE teacher who made a big difference in your life. What made that person so special? How did they help you get to where you are today?
Once upon a time, I was a teacher. I spent my weekends “off” planning, grading, and planning some more. Teachers work HARD, even when some doubt that they do. They even spend their own money making sure their students have everything they need. They sacrifice a lot and many times without anyone noticing.
If you can, do something kind for a teacher this week. Just sending a simple thank you note will make that teacher’s week, trust me! So again, think back to that ONE special teacher you loved and you STILL remember.
How did he/she impact your life?
Give them the shout out they deserve ; )

This is such a great question, Ashley! For me, I always struggled with math growing up – I never felt like any teacher went slowly enough or cared to loop back to me and ensure I was understanding the concepts. My eighth grade math teacher was the first teacher to work through the problems with me at my pace; she was kind, patient, and encouraging. And because of that, I have vivid memories of certain concepts literally "clicking," and the gratification of finally understanding something I thought was just not in the cards for me. The "mantra" in her classroom was "PMA," or, "Positive Mental Attitude." Indeed, it made a difference!
I've thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone's stories – this is such a nice exercise to reminisce about teachers who made a difference in our lives in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week!

The entire staff at Beaverton HS. God Bless

Nice! Thanks for sharing Robin ;-)

There were 3 stand out teachers for me. The first was Mrs. Rosa my first grade teacher the second was Mrs. Grady my third grade teacher and the third was Miss Sweeney my seventh grade English teacher.

Shout Out to Mrs Whitney, Algebra, Sacred Heart HS - Thank You!!

Mrs. Joseph, my 9th grade English teacher. A very classy woman who inspired me to be a better listener and. Thank you Mrs. Jo!!!

Definitely Mrs. Ihde, my sixth grade math teacher. She made class interesting (games with Cuisenaire rods, researching a budget), but more importantly she worked out how I could not take the class that would have bored me and maybe turned me off math. Instead I read the textbook, learned exactly two things (formulas for area and circumference of a circle), and went on to a far better-fitting class. Introduced me to local math contests and supported me going to nerd camp too, which were great experiences.

holly ellis she my favorite teacher at the worth county high school though and she crazy but she can teach really good though

Do professors count? I had a professor in college that I'll never forget. I had always heard he was super tough, so I kind of dodged being in his courses until I was a TA for him. Over the summer break, he found out he had throat cancer and needed assistance teaching, so there I was. He was tired a lot of the time from radiation, but we'd sometimes just sit in his office after class and talk for hours about this and that. Sometimes he wouldn't be able to come to class on time and I'd start teaching until he could make it in. He was a kind person, even if he had a reputation for being tough and we formed a real friendship over the semester I TA'd for him. When the year was over, we met up for dinner and he gave me some gifts and final encouragement. I think we both knew it would be the last time we saw each other. The next year he passed away on Christmas Day. I will never forget our long talks or those last words of encouragement he gave me. I hope I'm making him proud today.
Nice meet you
