when your in prison. they send you to classes so you can make something of your life. but when you get out nobody wants to hire you. so you never get the chance to prove yourself.

The reality is that society incarcerates and releases who ever it will; and you can be institutionalized por not; they will hold anything against you in or out. They will expect you to be an honest law abiding citizen; pay taxes like every other citizen; but deny you the rights and privileges of all other citizens. Very rare to find a good paying job, and be economically affluent with a felony; especially a violent one. There are transitional and re entry programs but with limits. You have to be part of some institutions to be in any of their programs. Everything is based on prejudice and oppression. I kid you not. But know what they are there for. None of those institutions opt people or family will meet any expectations you may have or heard of ; just don't have any. Move forward, don't give up; don't let them discourage you; believe in God ; and have confidence in doing what's right no matter the obstacles. There many trade jobs that offer apprenticeships; toward licensing; and better pay. There'll be a light at the end of the tunnel; for some it will be with you for the rest of you life.

The fact that you walked in while in the eye of the storm took the chance to invest in your self that made you a better man and came home to apply that what you learn not currently working in your field but there was something you do every day for free for some one else that can pay you take a pen write down those thing down and take gigs off that list and while doing that take that money to create a lane in your train field who know who you meet while walking with purpose in your life right to the life that is your birth right I claim it in advance for you to be the man you were called to be hey you can teach what you learn in that class that is a honorable way to get paid and give back and no way you can fail stay in motion

I got my Bachelors Degree in Computer Information Systems, and I can't get a good paying job. I was in prison for 9years and 8 months on a 10 year plea bargain, my brother-in-law shot in the air from my passenger side without any knowledge he was goin go do that. Never shot at the car that was following us, no dents, no broken windows and no one hit. We were charged with 3 Ag. I was 19 and didn't know anything about the law. I even went to court before my brother-in-law, and he was the shooter. My court appointed attorney never visited me or heard me side of the story and he convinced me to accept a plea deal.

Dustin, not sure what city or state you are in. In the state of Ohio, (Dayton) they have an office of re-entry at the job center on Edwin C. Moses Blvd. If you're not in the state of ohio check where you are and see if they have an offfice of re-entry. This will give you an opportunity to get linked in with employers who are aware of your past and are willing to work with you. Most employers today want to see ex-felons participate, and complete, a program helping to re-establish themselves in society.
