Something is missing
Hello fellow jobseekers. I am really telling a little story and wondering "what would you do?" A few nights ago I suddenly remembered that I need a few groceries for the next day so I found myself at the grocery store @10pm. I pick up the few things I needed and headed to the checkout. The young lady working informed me that only the self checkouts were open. Okay, no big deal as I probably would have used them anyway. As I am juggling purse, keys, wallet/phone, groceries, I drop my wallet/phone and all the cards I keep in the case just fell out and around my feet on the floor. This young lady didn't even move or bat an eye. Now I realize it's self checkout and stuff on the floor was personal items (debit card, business cards, medical cards for myself and children) but nothing in all my years of customer service would have prevented me from moving towards the customer and at least offering to help. What do you guys think??

TODAY ITS BEEN VERY INTERESTING, WITH POLICEMAN HEAD OF THE FAMILY AND LAW OFFICERS ENFORCING IT BELIEVE ME LIFE IS 100% PERCENT GOOD!

HI! I FORGOT TO WRITE A COMMENT SO TWO IS IN ORDER. I LOVE WRITING CHEERING UP AND PUTTING IT OUT IN PRINT IS THE WHOLE POINT. GOOD MORNING!

Well, to be honest, know a days, it’s not that people don’t want to be helpful, it’s the timing.
You dropped your personal belongings, which included money, debit cards, credit cards, etc. No one in there right mind would want to offer to pick those items up due to so much going on such as fraud, stolen items, etc.
So don’t look at it as though no one would help, just think on the level of humanity and common sense. It’s the way society has made it for everyone. You damned if you do and you damned if you don’t. That’s the new mentality.

What in the world is happening to this world now!Take me back to,when people were kind,considerate@caring! What ever happened to 40hr work week, pride in a job, etc.

Agreed: I would've asked "I don't want to intrude into your privacy, but do you wish me to help you pick up your items?" If you had said: "No thanks" that would've been the end of it. But by not even offering assistance, she comes across as rude/lazy and just doing "the bare minimum," if you get my drift.

I would think in the 30 yrs of retail I have had I would ask if you needed help she not doing anything but watching you pick up your items is no customer service

Ms. Holbygr0922 NMN: READ THIS PLEASE! After analyzing the words in your story, it's obvious that: #1. You're a wonderful person. #2. Customer service has held its "trademark:" throughout the many years. SCENARIO: If you drive through a fast food restaurant and the "girl" gives you "French Fries" without the ketchup, who should be held accountable? The customer service "girl" or the Training Manager? As you "TURN THOSE BROKEN STONES, INTO YOUR STEPPING STONES" you're going to realize that you have new exciting adventures awaiting you. The things that are "missing" are about to show-up in your life.. Get ready for your new sunshine!

I personally would of helped, but in this day in age it doesn't surprise me, she could of possibly take some of your cards, gotten accused of taking them, probably the safest thing for them too do is stand and watch as you picked them up.

Remember she has to watch other registers besides you dropped the cards your stuff can't expect people to help out as much these days but I feel where your coming from some days just a little dam help could really make someone's day
It's a changing world, kids now do not have the(whatever)to be kind or helpful!
