When the work day gets stressful...

When things get stressful at work, at school, or even if you're just looking for work, it can be really tempting to just sit at the computer and keep going and going and going. You might feel guilty for not pushing harder or squeezing in more things. But I've actually found that taking a walk and getting fresh air is a great way to reset. I actually think it would be a great company program to have walk groups to make sure people aren't getting cooped up at work. What do you think?

Great suggestion! Taking a walk, no matter how quick, makes me feel better.

I am all for this idea! I find that if I'm spinning my wheels sometimes, even just standing by a window for a bit of time and looking at something far away as opposed to my computer can feel great.

This is great, @LaurenB! Taking a break for a walk outside helps me reset and I do it often. I also recommend making your desk (or whatever space you have!) a place you want to be. Personal affects from home, some photos, a cozy blanket, whatever! Makes stressful days a bit easier to deal with.

Any time I get my heart rate up, I am blessed to have better clarity of thought. I once had a job where we played basketball at lunch and it was the best!

Fantastic Suggestion Lauren B ! I actually have some 'walk buddies' in the office that I frequently tap to go on walks. We even have long and short walking routes we can take depending on the stress level.

Adding this as a company benefit/perk sounds interesting. I wonder if that's a health maintenance option anywhere?

Stress Management in the workplace is essential to our physical and emotional well-being. Event a 5 min break by the water cooler is helpful.

By the way you just reminded me; time to go for a walk! :-)

I love that idea Lauren B ! I find that stepping away from my desk from time to time also helps with my creativity! Sometimes just taking a lap around the office helps get the brain flow going.

But, a walking group would be even more amazing!
