AGE DISCRIMINATION IS REAL #agediscrimination

I am 61, and no one will hire me. I have been looking for a job for a YEAR now. Jobs I could've easily gotten 10 years ago, are NOW out of my reach. Sure, I get a lot of phone interviews, and when they invite me for a "face to face"... they reject me within a few days. Their excuses? "You're overqualified" "You wouldn't be satisfied with the pay" "We hired someone with more experience" OR...THEY JUST WON'T ANSWER MY FOLLOW UP CALLS and EMAILS. What part of "I NEED A JOB" don't these people understand??? I am close to being homeless...and my savings account is dying. Besides that, I can't afford Health Insurance on my own, without a JOB.

I can relate and I am in my late 30's! I see myself as still being young but apparently I am not. Just keep at it! It might seem hopeless but there are still people around who will not judge you based on your age, e.t.c. If you are knowledgeable and dedicated in your profession they will see past your age. And good luck!

Talent Acquisition / Recruiting

Hi Eileen, What types of jobs are you looking for? Are you open to taking positions that are different than what you've done in the past? If you need money and are open to different lines of work, you should try Customer Care/Service, Retail or even becoming an Uber driver if you have a car.

Let the community know what you are looking for and we can try to help!
