Age-Proofing Your Resume. ...
AARP now offers a bit of resume advice and professional writing service to help baby boomers feel more comfortable applying and interviewing for new jobs.
- Writing a resume can be difficult for everyone, but for those 50 years of age or older, it can be even more difficult. Maybe they've been out of the workforce for some time, or they haven't been able to keep up with the latest processes and technologies.
The good news is that AARP and TopResume have partnered to help those in that age group.

I have the same problem as does my husband. I don't like to sound sexist, but many employers don't like to hire older women. They want young and cute. However, just because someone is young and cute doesn't mean they are a good employee.

Thank you for the advice.. ageism definitely exists, I don’t actually care how old a hiring manager knows I am. My expertise and the fact that I do not look my age helps tremendously.

Thank you for the tip

I always thought it was illegal to ask age and race but now I find companies will ask what year did you graduate from high school and to identify yourself as to your race and if you have a disability.

They also want a lot of money to help you. If I had that kind of money, I wouldn't be searching for work. The thing that always gets me is the age of my work history. My first career was military for 16 years and I got out to take care of our children. Now that my husband is medically retired, I am trying to go back to work, yet noone wants to give you a chance unless it is fast food. I did that part already during high school, I dont want to feel like I'm going backwards.

I know it has hurt me getting a job when they see the year I graduated from high school!!!

Thxs for sharing.
