Medical Biller/coder
I am glad this group exists because I just graduated from online college in 2016 with my Associate degree in Medical Reimbursement Technology at the age of 50 and even though I am working, I am a temp and not in my field of study. I am actively looking for work in healthcare and I am not giving up but sometimes you think about your age and wonder how the employer is looking at you. I know that I am a hard worker because to go back to school at my age after having six kids, is nothing but God and He got me through the hard part so I will show my determination because goodness knows I didn't go to school for my health. I do have a promising interview tomorrow as a Quality Inspector for Medical Claims and it is for a great salary, so I am leaving it up to God and following His lead. Just want to encourage someone that may be struggling too. Don't give up. We are seasoned :)

Mia..you are AWESOME!!!!!

i like the stories like this keep it up
Mia did your school or does it have job placement assistance? I know some do like mine when I graduated in 2005 in Medical billing and coding. I had a difficult time getting my foot in the door in my field. I actually started after a few years of trying to get something in a different position before moving within the company in my field. Unfortunately I was laid off in 2013 from the best job I had ever had bcus our jobs were outsourced. I don't want to discourage you by any means bcus it wasn't easy for me. Maybe start in a different position that at some point you can move into your field after like 6 months to a year. Try United Health Group and Aetna both companies pay really good and have so many different positions to start with. I know United Health Group has been hiring and they offer work at home more than other companies that I've seen. Good luck to you and again don't give up, you'll get in your field I'm sure.
