Career change advice
I just graduated from with a business degree this year but I want to follow my desire to work and care for animals. How can I obtain a career in zoology/wildlife conservation if my degree isn't in science?

Hi Arlene: Actually, I wouldn't be worried about your degree. In fact, I think you offer a really interesting perspective that could be useful to these organizations. You should pitch yourself that way, as this can help you stand out.
A degree doesn't have to define your career path (I've met more than a few entrepreneurs who were philosophy majors). But you DO need some experience in your chosen field. Volunteer at zoos, join wildlife conservation groups, and find out ways to build on your experience. Your resume will look all the better for it.
Arlene, I definitely agree with the advice Marcus gave below. If this is your passion and something you seriously want to pursue, actively look for places that don't require a degree in that field. I suggest looking into any certifications that this line of work may offer. Definitely buffer your resume with the experience you have pertaining to this passion and amongst any interview you have, explain the change in career path. In my personal opinion, having a business degree will also stand out to employers so its definitely not a bad thing!
