Hi Tara!, Glad to see you are still trying to get back into the workforce, and yes you will be able to get hired again but it will depend on a few things first. And they are very basic things you have to do, and when I say must I mean it!

First ,as it is a DUI, my question is was it for alcohol or another kind of drug? If alcohol I am assuming you have started an alcohol anonymous program or a narcotics anonymous program for drugs. Once you are addicted to anything you can never be cured you will always be an addict you can learn to deal and to live with your addition but you must take the first step and ask and get help dealing with your addition. Having said that, there is nothing worse than lying about your addition, your program or trying to hide it from a perspective employer. That will only tell the interviewer that you haven't dealt with the underlying cause of the DUI.

Second, as long as you are not applying for a job that requires you to drive you should be alright. Make sure when you are asked, " Do you have reliable transportation" trust me they want to hear about how you have someone who you will be riding into work with, that you know the bus routes and times they run to get you to work on time, or that you are in walking distance from work.

Look you know what's in your past and what is going to show up on a background check, so be ready and explain briefly what happened and how you have dealt with it. Honesty in this case IS the best policy. Good Luck with your job search, and hang in there it will happen.

You definitely will be able to! You can see the same background check an employer will see on www.BetterFuture.com . It's also free so no need for a credit card!

Hi Tara! You're definitely not alone as others here on Jobcase are struggling with this too! To get some support feel free to join this group here on Jobcase made just for ex-offenders.

There is also a fantastic resource specifically for ex-offenders you can find here that was created to help folks in your position learn about their options and provide the tools you need to re-enter the workforce.

Here is a list of companies that are commonly known for hiring ex-offenders (but not guaranteed) which you can find here as well as another helpful site that provides information about the benefits an employer will gain from hiring you.

I know it's hard to find a job with a record, but we're all rooting for you, Tara. If there's anything else I can do for you, please let me know!
