My friend is interviewing for a job in technology, is it different than interviewing for a retail or food service job for example? How should he prepare for the interview?

Great question! It depends on the role, but I would hese are definitely very different interviews and should be prepared for very differently. Retail and foodservice are very customer facing and the employer will be putting a great deal into interviewing for communication skills, how they're able to interact with others, ability to multitask, etc. These are much more of "soft skills" interviews. Tech jobs are more focused around actual skills and experience, and specific certifications, etc. I would suggest to your friend to really familiarize him/herself with the job description, and be able and ready to speak to their specific experience with the required skills and experience.

I would say to still dress formally but maybe do a bit more research regarding the company. Good luck!
