Stuck and bored?
I have been working in a flavorings manufacturing plant for a few years. I get along with everybody and the pay is okay. But I’ve been getting pretty bored of being inside and doing the same thing everyday. So I’ve been thinking I might be good at sales or something like that cause I’m a pretty outgoing person and a all of my friends say i’m a good communicator. Has anybody switched from making stuff to selling it? How can I do that?

Have you thought of becoming an Avon Representative always hiring I see online.

I'm sure you could switch if you're good at making stuff and know about the products maybe see what other positions your company has. You could talk to them about how you're feeling by telling them you would be good at Sales because of your personality and it would benefit the company to move you up. Not sure how many other options for jobs there are where you live, but you should be doing what makes you happy. Life is TOO short ! Good Luck & let me know what you decide to do Ok ? :)

One perspective: Who would know more about the product they're selling than the person who actually made it?
It would appear the place to begin would be to talk to your existing employer about your ideas and see if they'll give you a shot at sales.

I would have to publish it. Cause I have the right to sell it.

If you are an outdoors person you may be great at selling in an outdoors store. Maybe selling boats or RVs would get you outside more.
Another thought is if you have an handy man skills you could sell something of your own on weekends at flea markets, fairs, craft shows, etc. It would give you a taste of sales without the risk.
I personally switched to merchandising, (store sets, remodels and resets) I get outside a little but mostly it has me on my feet more and our projects often change so I have little opportunity to get bored.
good luck!

Stuck in one place, will switching to sales really get you where you long to be. Many places have gone to phone sales which lands you right back in the same situation. There are plenty of other options to get you outdoors, but if it is sales you want and a change of scenry, then you might want to consider real estate.

Morgan if a few years is three, ask management if there a sales position available, if so ask them to take a chance with you. The most they can say is no or not right now but if something comes available. And ask for terms, like if sales is not for me can you have your other position back. You never know if you do not ask. I will pray for you.

Hi Morgan,
Switching the career track can be both exciting and risky. If possible, try part time Sales job if your present work schedule permits. This may help you to decide.
Best,

Morgan Keep in mind when you switch to sales you will probably be working on commission. That can be very different for somebody who is used to getting a salary. Make sure you know what you want before you rock the boat.
Hi Morgan I think everywhere you go you'll do the same thing day after day that's called work and with every job you'll come across something you hate to do but you have to do it. In your case its being bored. Being bored at a job is the worst feeling you can have. I would rather do that terrible part of my job when I come across it than to feel bored all day. On your time off look for that sales job and or during your next vacation.
