Advanced Auto Parts is hiring now but I can’t start until I finish school in June. Is there anyway I can make it work?
So, I just turned 18 years and will be graduating high school in a couple of months. I’m just started looking for a job and applied to Advance Auto Parts mainly because I plan to enroll in a auto mechanic program sometime next year if I’m able to save enough money. On the application I pointed out that I have never As stated I've never had "real""job and am looking for employment to start this summer as soon as I finish school. Will I still be considered for a job if I’m still in school and not able to begin working until the summer? Their hiring right now but I don’t know if the position will still be open this summer so I want to get my application in ASAP but I don’t know how to better explain to the manager that I’ll be able to work FT if they can hold the job for me until June. Any ideas?
Great question, Lamont! I think the answer depends on if they're doing some major hiring right now. Try calling the Advanced Auto Parts you want to work at and ask the store manager for his/her advice. It sounds like they'd be interested in you, since you want to be a mechanic and you're 18. Get his/her advice on when to apply, or if they can accommodate your school schedule until you graduate in a couple of months. Best of luck to you!
Talk to the store manager after you apply. If he's a good manager he'll see your interest in the business and potential to succeed and contribute to the industry. They might be able to bring you on PT until you finish school they increase your hours to FT.
